The offshore fishing season in Costa Rica delivered exactly what anglers travel the world for: fierce competition, incredible camaraderie, and unforgettable days on the water.

This year, two of the most exciting tournaments in the sport brought the global fishing community together once again. The Pescadora Billfish Championship in Quepos and Leg 2 of the Los Sueños Triple Crown showcased extraordinary skill, teamwork, and the relentless pursuit of the next release.

Every February, Marina Pez Vela in Quepos becomes the center of the sportfishing world as women from across the globe gather for the Pescadora Billfish Championship, widely recognized as one of the premier all-female billfish tournaments in the world.

Over two days of competition, fleets of sportfishing teams head offshore chasing sailfish and marlin in a conservation-minded catch-and-release format. The tournament continues to grow each year, bringing together hundreds of anglers who share the same passion for the ocean and the thrill of the bite.

This year’s event delivered spectacular fishing and unforgettable moments on the water. Crews worked together, anglers pushed their limits, and the docks were filled each evening with stories of epic releases and near misses.

For Hook Optics, the Pescadora represents something special. It reflects the growing influence and leadership of women in offshore fishing and celebrates the spirit of competition, camaraderie, and adventure that defines the sport.

The Los Sueños Triple Crown

One of the Most Competitive Billfish Series in the World

Just up the coast, the intensity continued with Leg 2 of the Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown, one of the most prestigious billfish tournament series anywhere in the world.

Across three days of fishing, the fleet released an incredible number of sailfish and marlin while competing for top honors. The action was relentless as boats battled changing conditions and tight leaderboards.

By the final call of “lines out,” the tournament had produced a dramatic finish with consistent production separating the leaders from the field.

The Triple Crown is known for attracting some of the most accomplished teams and crews in offshore fishing. Each year the competition gets tighter, the releases climb higher, and the pursuit of victory becomes even more intense.

Pescadora Billfish Championship

1st Place – Team Uno Mas
With an incredible performance releasing 49 sailfish, Team Uno Mas captured the top position and demonstrated remarkable skill and consistency on the water.

2nd Place – Team Big Oh
Team Big Oh followed closely with 44 sailfish releases, an impressive effort in a highly competitive field.

3rd Place – Team Game Plan
Team Game Plan secured the final podium spot with 40 sailfish releases, rounding out an exciting leaderboard.

Los Sueños Triple Crown – Leg 2

1st Place – Team Galati
A dominant performance with 57 sailfish and 1 blue marlin for 6,200 points secured the victory in Leg 2.

2nd Place – Sweet Spot
Sweet Spot delivered one of the strongest single-day runs of the tournament and fought hard all the way to the final day.

3rd Place – Max Bet
Another powerhouse program, Max Bet stayed firmly in the hunt and closed out the podium in a highly competitive fleet.
