Hook Optics: Proud Supporter of the War Heroes on Water Fishing Tournament

At Hook Optics, we are honored to support a cause that goes beyond fishing—it’s about healing, hope, and showing gratitude to those who have sacrificed so much for our country. This year, Hook Optics is proud to stand behind the War Heroes on Water (WHOW) fishing tournament, an event that has transformed the lives of combat-wounded Veterans since its founding in 2018.

Created by renowned sportfisherman Anthony Hsieh, WHOW is more than just a fishing tournament. It serves as a powerful tool for helping Veterans transition back to civilian life. Hsieh, a lifelong angler and owner of Team Bad Company, was inspired by his own experiences and by his close friendship with a Vietnam Veteran. His goal was simple yet profound—bring Veterans out on the water, and give them an opportunity to heal through camaraderie and the peaceful experience of ocean fishing.

Transforming Lives Through WHOW

Since its launch, WHOW has grown into the largest on-water therapeutic program for combat-wounded Veterans in the U.S. Over 425 Veterans have participated directly, and thousands more have been impacted through fundraising efforts. The tournament provides more than a weekend of fishing—it offers a chance to build deep, lasting bonds with fellow Veterans, captains, crews, and the extended WHOW family.

For many Veterans, the emotional scars left from their service can feel overwhelming, with the tragic statistic of 17 Veterans taking their lives each day serving as a painful reminder. However, the WHOW community has proven to be a lifeline. Veterans consistently share how the connections they make through the tournament restore their sense of purpose and give them strength to keep moving forward. For some, it has literally been life-saving.

Why Hook Optics Supports WHOW

At Hook Optics, we believe in the healing power of the ocean and the ability of communities to make a real difference. The mission of WHOW deeply resonates with us. While we aren’t an official sponsor, we proudly support the tournament’s efforts to provide Veterans with a transformative experience on the water.

Fishing is more than just a sport—it’s a way to connect with nature, reflect, and find peace. For the Veterans who participate in WHOW, it’s an opportunity for renewal. At Hook Optics, we are inspired by WHOW’s mission and are grateful for the chance to support such a meaningful cause.

Standing Together for Our Heroes

As we continue our journey, Hook Optics remains dedicated to supporting organizations like WHOW that are making a real impact on the lives of Veterans. Anthony Hsieh’s vision for WHOW as a lasting tribute to our nation’s heroes aligns with our own values, and we’re committed to helping spread the word about the life-changing work being done.

By supporting WHOW, we’re not just acknowledging a great event—we’re standing behind a movement that honors the sacrifices of our brave men and women in uniform. The War Heroes on Water tournament is a powerful reminder of the healing nature of the ocean and the importance of a caring community.
